EP 22: Isle of Dogs (2018)- Movie Review and Analysis (No Spoilers)

Ryan and Mike went on another Man-date to see Wes Anderson's new animated film Isle of Dogs. The movie stars the amazing voices of Bryan Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle), Edward Norton (The Hulk), Scarlett Johansen (Ghost in the Shell), Bill Murray (Ghostbusters 2), and Jeff Goldblum (The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai) An alpha pack of dogs leads a young boy named Atari on a quest to find his missing pet Spots. Surrounding his quest is a political backstory that resonates in today's climate as well as search for identity by Cranston's character Chief, a stray. They had a couple criticisms that they will talk about, too. Like Wes Anderson's other films (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, Life Aquatic, etc) it is quirky, charming, and heartwarming while also having an emotional core. It's always refreshing to see a finely crafted, highly detailed claymation. There aren't enough of them.
